Rick Holtmeier, Contest Master and Area 64 Governor presided over the Humorous and Tall Tales speech contest. Kay (right) readies the hospitality table.
Jean Gallagher (left) acts out the lessons that she has learned from Tee-ball. Cyndy Abramson (right) entertains the audience with "Cinderella Lessons 101".
Dan Klein, from the North of the River club, "beefs up" a point in his speech titled "Communication or Confusion". Bob Lea spins a tall tale as "Computer Bob - Super Geek".
Prairie Division Governor, Anne Groetsch (left), performed the duties as Chief Judge. K J McDonald couldn't resist the temptation to get one more humorous anecdote in, even as he is accepting his trophy. Anne Groetsch and Rick Holtmeier look on.

People often wonder why Toastmasters clubs hold speech contests. The official reason is the individual utilizes a different environment to improve their speeches. Unofficially, it's a lot of fun, not only for the listeners, but for the contestants too. It gives novice speakers an opportunity to hear those who are more polished and professional. In the case of the Humorous and Tall Tales contests, it's creative, entertaining and one laugh after another.
